Look what I finds!

I was kind of quoting LotR in the title.

Anyway.

I found a fake blood tutorial when I was browsing deviantART. Because, that's what I do in my spare time. I'm going to say this: please use vegetable gelatin (agar, which is Japanese, for example). For me? Because I went to all that trouble to post a link here?

And beware of stains.
And please don't use it to fake murder scenes and cause mass civilian trauma.

I suppose there is something to be said for golf, afterall

I've never liked golf. I mean, don't you do more standing than actual physical activity? (If I'm wrong, correct me. But I digress.)

But this would certainly make it a little more interesting.Provided that shark actually makes an appearance. By the way, what do the sharks eat. I'm not familiar with the mechanics of golf course ponds, but I thought they were man made, and didn't contain fish. And sharks are generally- um- carnivorous. So, what are these sharks eating?

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Lots of exclamation points, much?)

Whoo! They finally released the cover! And the title! And its coming out on November 8th, 2011! (Yeah, I'm really excited. So sue me.) Soooo... I'm thinking we're gonna see a green dragon in the book (there was a little controversy about that). But... who's getting Greenie? Can't wait to find out!

The most amazing site for all things Inheritance Cycle.

Tangled

2-Disc Tangled Blu-ray Combo Pack
So I finally got around to watching the movie (I'm not huge on theaters, okay?)

I thought it was adorable. Except there was to much singing. (Ah, well, it is Disney, after all. Let's not expect miracles. If someone who works at Disney is reading this, could you PLEASE make a movie without singing? Please?)

Cutest movie. And the first time in a long time that an animation has made me laugh. (Despite the singing.)

Soooo... that's about it, I guess.

May the Force be with you.

Still Here

Yeah. Really pointless blog entry alert. I haven't posted because I've a) been uninspired and b) been reading (not telling you what though, I'll let the curiosity torture you, shall I?)

Hmmm... poor Japan. (sob)

Nothing's really happening in my life at the moment. I'm thinking of starting a graph on this blog of how many movies I've watched in science class so far (since February), if I can figure out how to do charts.

I'll try to blog more in the future.

Katniss comes out!

Are there any Hunger Games fans here? well, the actress who is going to portray Katniss just spoke out. It's going to be Jennifer Laurence.
Now, I don't know about you guys, but I'm a bit dissapointed. She's too old, and I was kind-of hoping for them to give a chance to some undiscovered talent. Suzanne Collins supports her, though, so I'm ok with it. My main worry at the mement is if they can get her to look right, since that is something screwed up in oh-so many movies based on books.

Earthquakes in Japan

Most people reading this should know about the 8.9 earthquake in Japan earlier today (or yesterday, depending on where you live).

You'd think that it was as bad as it could get, but no. A 6.6  earthquake hit Japan, too. I'm sending my best wishes out to Japan, and I hope everyone else is too, because this is, to be blunt, really bad.

Alienzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

I am super enthusiastic, and I really hope the NASA guy didn't make a mistake! Alien fossils!Scientist presents evidence of alien life

As in "fossilized extraterrestrial life forms"! As in ALIENS!

Sorry. I'm really excited. Someone at NASA apparently found microscopic bacteria-like fossils (verrrry small fossils) on a rock from a  meteorite. Now they've got about a hundred experts + five thousand other scientists looking it over to make sure.

Can't wait to hear more! Part of me hopes this is the tip of the iceberg. The other part is kind of afraid it is. And the other part is reserving judgement until the make sure.

A personality test

From some institution full of experts. Apparently I'm introverted, easily stressed and highly self-critical. Tell me something I don't know, why don't you?

Though it also says I'm liable to develop depression. Well, thanks for the prior warning! I'll be on the look-out.

What about ink blot tests? Well...

http://www.jokesunlimited.com/inkblotquiz.php (give credit where credit is due, this is where I got the picture).Ink Blot 8Call me crazy, but I see a juvenile criminal mastermind who has just finished his dastardly invention, which he shall use to concur the world. Hmm... maybe that's not healthy. I mean, sign of paranoia maybe?
meaning I see elephants.http://www.metamorphosism.com/?p=3086
I had to be cheerful for once, since usually I'm all "our world is doomed" and other depressing stuff like that. (See other blog.)
So now you know I'm utterly crazy. (Way to go self, you've totally made people want to know you.) (Oh, great now I'm talking to myself too.)

The Ink Blot stuff was originally posted on my other blog actually, but I thought it was random enough.

More Angelness

I'm perishing in suspense. Angel: A Maximum Ride Novel is sitting on my table right now, and I can't read it. This blog post it actually homework for Futures Forum (see earlier posts), because the blog site were supposed to use it a pain.

Anyway. I only just got Angel because, despite the fact that I pre-ordered the darn thing about two weeks in advance, Chapters did not see fit to give me the book until now. An entire ten days after it came out! Grr...

Anyway. On a different, though related subject, Maximum Ride is coming to a close. In 2012. I believe that means one last book (after Angel). And, don't get me wrong, I love this series so much, and I'll be sad when it's over and everything, but I think it might be time, since the plotline in book six was, to put it nicely, kinda scattered, and we've been waiting for the saving of the world and/or Apocalypse since book one. (Talk about a run on sentence.) So what will happen in the end? James Patterson seem content to torture me, making me wait an ENTIRE YEAR. But anyway...

A Link

This is freaking fabulous!

I wish we had something like this at our school. We do have some very gifted poets though. And some people who should seriously consider counseling.

I think that someone should start an advise wall or something.

Erm. Not that I support graffiti or anything. But I still think it's cool.

Happy Singles Awareness Day!

To some of you out there, today might be Valentines day, a day to celebrate love with your significant other. However, another holiday falls on february 14th, however, and that is Singles Awareness day, otherwise known as S.A.D. It's a day to celebrate being single, in all it's glory! It makes a day previously kinda miserable to single people more fun, because you can choose to celebrate how aweosme it is to be without ties!

So, Happy Valentines Day to some of you, and Happy Singles Awareness Day to the rest of us!

Squirrel Sanctuary

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsL4JLNUB9fsS60RxXt4QnRvsvLhl7evbqaeiVS8KOuar_jRqxOtfHdNL8LIvtcQw-CfNMWdKSHum4D9Hy842lhTiqsOaeQ4sJFVg42pxynoITakjnCPZ-t6DPHRo5L7mgIyhwt1s4XSg/s400/Squirrel-Found.jpg

Apparently there are actually squirrel sanctuaries. My Furtures Forum teacher (see earlier posts) found a baby squirrel. And he was wondering what to do with the squirrel. And, lo and behold, there was a squirrel sanctuary nearby! So they exist. Who knew?

Does School Destroy Creativity?

Well, I've been complaining about this for a year, and apparently some big important guy agrees with me. The video's kind of boring. We watched it in this awesome pilot program (that means the school course is an experiment, in this case we're trying out different kinds of learning and using technology) that I'm taking part in.

Basically, school teaches us to fear mistakes, when this is an important way we learn. We learn by making mistakes. We learn by altering and improving ideas. School teaches us that it is better to stay quiet than make a mistake. We are drafted into a certain learning style. If you don't learn that way, well, too bad, stinks to be you. If you are ADHD, then there is something wrong with you. You need to be medicated so you can be the same as everyone else. They are turning us into cookie cutter students!

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQE0gP0E-A-Y_kfkyoBOJRbjBtxvAYpdQkJrrJWq6y4-ZhkeByc

Someone who doesn't learn the way they are "supposed" to, will feel unintelligent. I mean is that good for out self esteem? I think not. I'm an example. I can't do math. I'm horrible at it. I don't remember formulas. I take notes that confuse me when I read them at home. The teacher's teaching me and I'm thinking "does not compute". I am no good at math. There's a reason I was in a horrible mood for a whole semester (is the such a thing as math-induced depression?).

So, basically, we are taught that creativity is bad. That we need to learn this way, and this way only. Otherwise there is something wrong with us. Is this right? Anyway. I have to go now. Just something to mull over. I'll probably post this on my other blog too. We'll see.

Mona Lisa...a Man?!

So, apparently researchers have decided that the ever-famous Mona Lisa might actually be a dude.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you should already have some idea of what the Mona Lisa looks like, but here you go anyways.

Now, I normally wouldn't make a huge deal out of people speculating the mysteries of an old painting, because you're supposed to do that, right? Isn't that part of what makes art interesting? But I think all this speculation should be laid to rest and forgotten. Like I said, mystery is part of the fun of art, and if we know everything about a peice, it's just not as fun. It'd be like reading Harry Potter for the first time, and being told Dumbledore dies.

Well, that's my opinion, anyways (But seriously, it's not fun to be told things like that when reading. I was just starting the sixth when someone told me Dumbledore dies. It kinda ruined some of the book for me).

Fantastic Three?

Now, I'm not a huge comic book fan (at all). I've never read a comic, to be honest. But I can see how this would be a big deal.

Well, those who are really into the Fantastic Four, I'm sorry for the loss of one of the main characters. It's now Fantastic Three, which, if you ask me, doesn't have the same ring to it.

If you live in Tennessee I hope you're not Kabourophobic

Kabourophobia is the fear of crustaceans.
Giant crayfish, Reuters

And they've discovered a giant crayfish in Tennessee. Just thought you might want to know.

Want a pet Mammoth?

Because, apparently, researchers in Japan are going to try to clone one.

wooly-mammoth.jpg (572×368)http://scrapetv.com/News/News%20Pages/Everyone%20Else/images-5/wooly-mammoth.jpg

Um... I'm not so sure this is a good idea... Watch Jurassic Park. The may look warm and cuddly, but this isn't Ice Age, and they're huge creatures. And probably dangerous. We don't know what they were like, since all we have to go one are cave paintings of people holding spears. And, what if the mammoths found out we hunted their race to extinction? We don't know how smart they were, or what they were capable of.

And plus, can you imagine driving down a country rode, all peaceful-like, and seeing a mammoth x-ing sign, or a mammoth?

Angelness

http://img1.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/n72/n362224.jpg

First 81 pages of Angel! I've found another favourite character: Kate. She is awesome. Oh, and Max II has a name! Maya! (Thank goodness, the double Maxes got so darn confusing). Can you imagine the pranks she and Max could play on people? (If they could stop hating each other, we'd never have another peaceful moment.) And on question... where is Total during all of this? Off with Akila?

Anyway. I pretty much sat in front of the computer grinning so hard it hurt. I practically fainted from the excitement of it all.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR FEB. 14!

First time I've ever looked forward to Valentines day. Maximum Ride: Angel shall be released. And I shall weep with joy (and maybe sadness, if the book is sad).

So Excited!

Dangerous Kinder egg!

So, apparently, a Canadian woman was stopped at the border for a random search, and confiscated her of a two-dollar Kinder Surprise egg. They told her she could have been fined 300 dollars US if they found it while she was still in the states.

Wait, what? Apparently the eggs are banned in the US because small children chould swallow and choke on the toy inside. I don't know about them, but I always figured a kid got a kinder surprise specifically so they could play with the toy inside, not eat it.

and on top of that, they mailed this woman a seven page letter asking for permission to destroy the egg. I bet someone at the border would eat it if they "got permission to destroy it."

Impending Doom? Or another of those media-hypes-that-turn-out-to-be-nothing?

So it  turns out its not just blackbirds. Now we have a global mass die off trend. Depressing much? But are the blackbirds really the tip of the iceberg? Is it one of those things that is really making a mountain out of a mole hill? Can I use any more idioms to describe this situation?

Katie

P.S. Mass fish die-off? Remind anyone of a book about a certain group of bird kids? Hmmm.... weird.

Um... I'm gonna go with "No Comment"

I'm not one to bash anything quirky (honestly, I LIVE for the little quirks in my everyday life) but this... well. I'm pretty much lost for words. I mean, its interesting what people will do for their birds, but not being a birds-as-pets kind of person myself, I personally think this is a little, you know, over board. They have outfits, and leashes and diapers. How do you even get a bird into a Christmas hoodie?

Happy New Year!

Oh yes. Nothing like waking up to the new year with a dead blackbird on your lawn. Talk about depressing. Possibilities: freak hail storm (one question, does this hail have a grudge? You'd think it would hit all birds, not just one species). Scared to death by fireworks (hmm... maybe... sounds more likely than a vengeful hail storm).

Poor people in Beebe, who now have to deal with dead blackbirds. And poor, poor blackbirds. Sigh. I bet its the humans fault, because spontaneous multiple blackbird deaths are, you know, not exactly natural.

That's depressing.

Well, later then,

K

P.S. They fly in flocks? I always assumed they were solitary, because you never see more than one at a time around here. Wow. I feel so uneducated on the flocking patterns of blackbirds.
